leak

Bought a new eclipse 2007 in august 2006. You wont believe that since October 9th, I have been three times at the dealer. Why? Leaks. The first two times it was "just" a a few drops from the airbags units. Today, I stepped in my car, found my roof soaking wet, water pouring (honestly it were no drops of water, it was crazy) out of the roof. I went back to the dealer and they were shocked too. Especially as an expert checked my car 2 weeks ago. They told me that Mitsubishi received more complaints and that kits were sent out to the dealers. I might be lucky having a brand new one and might be able to opt for the lemon law. I hope this wont be necessary, as I love driving the car. But I can not believe that I had to go back three times since the beginning of October.
So when my Mitsubish dealer called their technicians, they were told that indeed there are problems. So contact your dealer!

bad paint and rims

I have a 2001 black Eclipse that has defective paint. I was told that the primer was bad on all the Galantes and Eclipses in 2001! And they still won't do anything for me! I've left my car to be reviewed and for pictures to be taken, and they denied me. I have called customer service - and they never get back to me. They say the "warrantee is up and there's nothing they can do." That's great...my car still looks like crap - and it's not because it's DIRTY!!! I clean and wax it; they're telling me it's my fault. I have seen numerous eclipses on the road - and they all have the same conditions: paint coming off the hood, roof, and trunk. Now my steering wheel is shaking after 65 miles/hr. I am told it's not my alignment - which I've had done twice in one month - it's that my rims are bent! I am now in the process of writing a letter to customer service...but I'm not sure it will do any good. Is there anyone that is competent that works at Mitsubishi??? Thanks for listening...

problems

I have a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse and almost did the lemon law on it. The steering wheel shook so bad that it was in the shop 4 times for the same problem. That was finally fixed and 3 years went by and my paint was fading on the roof and the entire hood. I wish I had a picture to share....it was horrible........that too was replaced and now my brakes are sqeaking after having new brakes and pads put on. I am hoping this too gets fixed.......My next car is a honda.

2003 Eclipse Black - Paint Issue

I too have an eclipse with bad paint. This car has been repainted by mitsubishi twice already. Each time, they only choose to paint the areas where defects have happend, each time I have had to rent a car while the work is being done. Guess what, It's still fading. And now, its faded in one of the areas that had already been repainted. This time, the car has 64k miles on it, but mitsubishi has agreed again to repaint it. They are asking for 7-10 days for the work, meaning again, i'll need to rent a car while they touch-up their bad paint job. I'm not going for it. They are going to paint the entire car, and pay for the rental or i plan to tell anyone who will listen about this problem... Keep checking back, I'll let you all know how it ends up going.

No Paint Problems, but other problems

I have a 2003 Eclipse which i was happy to purchase. Lately it has been giving me lots of problems. My service engine soon light is on and its been on for more than 6 months, but i brought it to the dealer as soon as it came on. I took it to a Mitsubishi dealer and fixed the problem(so i thought). I drove the car for about 10 minutes before the light came back on. So i took the car back to the dealer to fix the problem. Once again they said they fixed it, but drove the car for a day or so and the light came back on. After spending more than $400, i would have liked the problem to be fixed. I gave up on that dealer and never went back. My next problem is that my stereo system is not working. The radio is on but there is no way of changing the station or volume. My engine also sounds rough and every morning it has a rough start. I have to turn the key twice before it turns on. I must add that i do take care of my car and get oil changes and required maintence. I'm getting to the point that I'm spending to much time and money on this car. I might take it to the dealer or shop one more time for all these problem, but if anyone has advice please let me know. Thank you.

the things i could tell you

i am a former mitsubishi service manager who was recently let go for warrenty related issue's. i was flat out asked by my district manager, on numerous occasions, to find reasons to deny a customer repairs that were obviously mitsubishi's fault. i refused to do that, and because of that, i was let go. feel free to e-mail me any questions or concerns that you may have. i have seen and been told to overlook every problem you could imagine with there cars, i understand how you feel. i am not here to discredit the dealership i worked for, just speak the truth about a warranty that is'nt worth the paper its printed on.

Leaking 2006 Eclipse

I have owned my Eclipse for about 6 months and notice my passenger rear floorboard was wet and the car had a horrible smell. When I took the car into Lee's Summit Mits. (Missouri) they claimed I had a hole in the firewall under the dash and it was leaking pretty good. As far as I am concerned this was a defective car when it rolled off the assembly line and all they are willing to do is steam clean the interior of the car. What about all the damage that the water has done to the electrical, interior, radio and god know where all the water leaked to. This is a very poorly made vehicle. I also have rust on engine parts after owning the vehicle only 3 months. Very poor quality vehicle and trhe dealer will not stand behind the car and admit they sold me a bad car from the very beginning.

2006 Eclipse GT (paint issue)

I bought a brand new Red/Burgundy Eclipse GT in Feb 2006. I've taken it in to have the dash replaced because of bubbling. My brakes have now started squeeling everytime I use them. I have also noticed that the paint now has deep streaks and spots going through it. It looks like water damage! I wash and wax my car regularly. My paint should look like glass without flaws. I'm almost thinking that they they didn't apply a clearcoat or did a crappy job. Has anyone else noticed this in their paint?
For spending almost $30,000 on this vehicle, I now wish I had bitten the bullet and spent the extra $7,000 and bought the Nissan 350Z. I haven't noticed any paint problems on them. This is the 3rd Eclipse I've bought. If Mitsubishi doesn't fix this problem, I will never buy another Mitsubishi product ever again.

Thanks,
Gina
