Defective paint/Cracked dashboard - DO NOT BUY A A MITSUBISHI!!!
I have a 2001 Black Eclipse GT and about 6 months ago the paint on the roof started fading right in front of the sunroof. It has now spread like cancer and now the spoiler, hatch, hood, and panels around the windows are all fading away. The clearcoat has disintegrated and shed like a lizard. I took it to an independant paint and body shop and they estimated $3500 to "restore" the car! I went to the dealer to ask them to correct their defect and the body shop said they have seen this alot and that it was a "factory defect" and to go talk to the dealer manager. The manager told me it wasn't covered under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty and there was nothing they could do. I will never buy a Mitsubishi EVER again! I hope prospective buyers see this website. BTW - My dashboard is cracked in 3 places and the steering wheel vibrates when going over 65 too!

I have a 2001 Eclipse GT Spyder. My window leaks from the top of the door and gets my floor all wet and now the dash has cracked right up the middle. I don't know what to do, I don't have the money to keep fixing things.

I HAVE A 2003 BLACK ECLIPSE AND WATCHED IT SLOWLY TURN WHITE!!! WE CALL IT THE "MICHEAL JACKSON" PAINT JOB...LOL. I CALLED MITSUBISHI AND COMPLAINED AND WAS SUPRISED THAT THEY OK'D MY NEW PAINT JOB.I AM SCHEDULED TO PICK IT UP TODAY SO WE WILL SEE.MY ONLY GRIPE IS WHY NOT REPAINT THE WHOLE CAR INSTEAD OF JUST THE HOOD,ROOF AND TRUNK(AFFECT AREAS ONLY ARE APPROVED)?DID THEY USE NON DEFECTIVE PAINT ON THE DOORS...HUMMMM WE WILL SEE.THIS IS MY 2ND ECLIPSE AND WILL BE MY LAST!!!!!

paint problems
Mitsubishi has been rude and unhelpful. The paint (like many of you) has been fading and oxidizing. They didn't care at all. I had horrible service. I will never buy another Mitsubishi.

Black Paint Problem
2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse - the paint on the roof appears to be "dissolving" - it's down to the primer. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The car is garage kept, so this is not sun fade or lack of care.

1997 Eclipse GS
I thought this was just an issue we were having until I saw something about it on the news. What started as one little white patch has spread in the matter of a few months to the spoiler, sides, roof, trunk and a couple other places I know I am forgetting right now. I too will be looking into this matter further.

My 2003 Eclipse is slowly falling apart. The radio works but the display (clock,radio and cd info) does not work at all nor the cigarette outlet or even the extra outlet in the console. Dashboard rattles and is poorly contructed. Mitsubishi customer service is the worst I've encountered from day one. These cars are over priced! I would never buy Mitsubishi ever again!!!

2001 Eclipse: Bad Paint Job and Cracked Dashboard and Electrical Problems
I have a black 2001 Eclipse and the paint is fading on the roof, hood and trunk, the dashboard has cracked in two places and I have had to replace two headlight harnesses and one taillight harness because they have shorted out.

Check Engine Light and Traction Control Light
I purchased a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 6 weeks ago but 2 weeks ago I noticed that I had no power and then my check engine light came on followed by my traction control light. An 0303 error code was detected but I have taken it to 2 different dealerships and they can not fix it. They replaced the Cat convertor but it runs worse now. I was wondering if anyone else has experience this and if you have please contact me. I am so frustrated at this point but I love my car!!!!

I have a 2006 Eclipse GS. It is also leaking through the sunroof controls and airbag button on the driver side pillar. I took the car in last month (October 17, 2006), they told me they resealed and good to go. Got a good rain last night and started to drive the car and water started to pour on my pant leg and on shifter. This is a huge safety hazard considering there are electrical components (radio, sunroof control). I had to drop my car of this morning and get a ride home from work. I drive past the dealer everyday & on my home, the car is sitting outside....in the RAIN!!!

My husband has a 2001 black Crysler Sebring LXi, super nice with leather seats, fancy wheels, etc., but the paint is also coming off the roof & trunk and it looks like the start of it on the hood too. Looks like crap on the outside. Started doing this a little over a year ago and now the paint is almost completly off the front part of the roof right in front of the sunroof. Same thing happened with our '93 (not sure exactly on year) Grand Am we had - funky shade of blue. He and my son think it's the windshield wiper fluid, but I don't know. I wonder if it is enviromental or if the factories are just using crappy paint. Just want you to know it's not just the eclipse with the paint problems.

My retarded friend in california still bought an eclipse even after i showed him this site. My sister has an eclipse and it is a P.O.S. He said he really likes the "style and look" and hopes to get a lot of ass with this car but what good is it if it doesnt even run! Anyways thats my rant. have a nice day.

I will never buy Mitsubishi car ever again.
I have been having noise when applying the break. I bought my Mitsubitch 2006 Eclipse in Jan 2006. Since then I have been to the dealer 5 times, 2 out of 5 they claimed that they could not duplicate the problem. My bad experiences with them:
1. Very poor attitude/service from the dealer.
2. They tried to cover it up and avoid giving me another work order to file for lemon law.
If you have your new Mitsubitch car and have problems with it, please find if you are able to file for lemon law. The dealer will have to replace your car or buy it back.

Worst car ever
I bought my 2001 Red Eclipse GS in 2001 with 7,000 miles on it. Only a few weeks after I bought it, I noticed excessive chips in the paint and didnt think anything of it.
My biggest problem right now is the water leaking into the front and backseat of the car. When I get in, there is at leastan inch deep of water underneath my feet and my pants are soaking wet when I get out. It has been to the shop twice and they cant figure out what is causing it. So now, my car smells like mildew and the car floor will not dry out. I am so frustrated. Its looking like Im going to go ahead and buy a new car, but I will certainly never buy a Mitsubishi again.
As if that wasnt bad enough, my air conditioning fluid was leaking into the front passenger side floor. It was in the shop twice.
Now, the dashboard is cracked in several places and the red paint has faded to pink in many areas.
