Bad paint! I own a 2001 Black Mitsubishi eclipse, bought brand new. I'm thankful, i do not have all the problems many of you have encountered with your Mitsubishi cars. However, I do have one that seems to be the same across the country---the fading paint!I have white spots on the hood & roof. My brother who also owns a 2002 Black Mitsubishi Galant is facing the same problem. We've gone to the dealer to see their district service manager, but have been told he only visits the dealer once a month and don't have a schedule. Too many of us are having the same problem, Mitsubishi should be responsible & take some action.

2001 Eclipse GT - Paint, Dash, Leaks, Headlights I have a Black 2001 Eclipse GT loaded with all the bells and whistles. About 3 years after buying the car I noticed a small white patch on the top of the car...now it has spread to the hood, top and trunk and is so bad it is embarrassing to drive. The car looks like a giant Skunk!
The Dash has a huge crack and rattle that sounds like a support bar for the dash has come loose.
Every time we get a heavy rain, the passenger floorboards are wet and now the car smells like mildew.
One headlamp turns off and on all the time and is due to a headlamp harness.
I purchased this car and a 2001 VW Jetta at the same time. I wash and wax both cars at the same interval and I store them in the same environment. The VW paint looks brand new and the Eclipse looks like it has been in the sun for a million years. I paid 23K for this??!!!!!

Need Feedback!!! I've been looking at getting a new 2007 Eclipse for a while now. I am really starting to like the white and orange ones and am statring to talk to dealers. I have found some great deals, but I just recently found this site. Does anyone know of any of these same problems(paint, breaks, leaks) with the 07 models? Any feedback would really help!

2000 Black Elcipse Oxidizing The paint on my car is in bad shape, the hood and the top of the care is just getting worse. I realize my car is a 200 it has 78K miles on it. I use to live in San Diego and nothing happend to the vehicle. I now live in Sacramento and within the past year the paint has dulle where the oxidization is happen. Otherwise I have no real problems accept the shaking of the steering wheel.I have seen cars (here in Nor Cal) mainly Mitsubishi Eclipse's and a few Toyotas with this problem. I would think that living near the ocean this would happen not next to a river...I called the dealership and they said there was no recall but even if there was by car was way out of warranty...wtf is wrong with the paint? If I paint it again is it going to happen again?

Paint and other problems I have a 2001 RS and I too had the same paint problem with in the first 14 months of having the car which I bought brand new. After the dealer first told me they couldn't do anything about it I took it to a pro body shop and they told me it was a clear coat degregation problem. He said that it was s dealer defect when that happens so I took it back to the dealer and told them what I was told and really didn't have to fight alot and they took care of it right away. The body shop foreman told me that most paint jobs on vehicles have up to 7 year warranty on them. Most dealers will not tell you that. I also had the headlight problem on both sides where the harness completely melted and did not work at all. The dealer gave me hell about it and would absolutely not pay for the repair. I had to repair it myself. My dash also started cracking in several different places and the dealer would not cover that either. All this happened within the first 16 to 18 months that I had this car. I will never buy anything from Mitsubishi again.

GIVE ME A BRAKE! I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS CAR. Everytime I hit the breaks they squeel it started at around 10,000 miles of purchasing the car. So of course I bring it back to the dealer, they tell me they have a new updated brake pad, so they update it-leave the dealer they start squeeking again, Im then told they need time to wear in. 500 miles later still squeeling. Bring in back in to the dealership, they resurface the front leave the dealer still having the problem. to make a long story short I have had the front and back rotors resurfaced 2 times, I have had the rotors replaced on two seperate occassions. I have had the Brake pads and front rotors replaced together and they still squeak. Obviously theres a problem. I have visted Fred Beans in Doylestown PA to have this issue try and be fixed more then 6 times. I have now filed Lemon Law. This is aggravating, time consuming and money wasting.I should have went with a different car. Ugggh!

paint and everything else I have a black 1996 eclipse. The paint looks so awful. I noticed the deterioration occuring slowly about 3-4 years ago. Last year the roof started rusting. A couple of years later I noticed that water leaked into the backseat and trunk when it rained. And now I think I'm having problems with my transmission. I can totally relate to most of the complaints I've read. It is almost amazing to hear other people saying the exact problems you've had. These cars are awful! Mitsubishi do not want to admit their fault with the crappy paint jobs. It sounds like they are getting worse as the years pass. Before I got mine I saw a lot of them on the road. I would say "they must be giving those eclipses' away". I couldn't believe the car that I despised so much on the road would be the one that I would purchase later. I was away in college and needed a car. Now, I wouldn't take another one if it was free. Nor any other cars by Mit suck bishi!

Title/pink slip I own...or should own a 1997 Eclipse GS-T. If you do the math (mind you I bought the car brand new) thats almost 10 years that I've had the car. I worked for Mitsubishi and got a killer deal on DAP financing for 36 months...then financed the balloon for another 36. Bottom line, I should of had my pink slip 4 years ago. I would probably be more upset if I was planning on selling it, but I love the car...I feel the pain of all you 2nd Generation 95-96 black and green painted mitsu owners. My dealership used to repaint them before the original sale...then tack it on to the price. I also feel for you 2nd Generation RS and GS owners who had no idea they were getting a 420A Chysler engine/trans/ECU. I fell for it too in late 94 when I bought the biggest lemon of my life, a 95 GS without the leopard spotted paint...simply because I worked there and they weren't charging me for defective paint. MMCA has told me that my title mix up was due to the move of their corporate office. I guess they lost some boxes when they left Cypress California. Whatever the reason...pretty unprofessional if you ask me.

2006 Eclipse I just took my eclipse to the dealer today for squeeking breaks. They started squeeking, well as far as i know, at around 10k. My friend at work has the same car, and hers were squeeking too. Well the warranty only last til 12k and I was at almost 13k. I got them for free though.
Why? Before I got to 12k they told me that I was either riding the brakes, or some dirt got on it but its fine. However, they told my friend that they came out with an update brake for that car.......so I took it in, fought with them, and got the work done on warranty. I got new front brakes.
Also, since ive owned the car, ive had a sqeeking window fixed that was put in crooked and the brakes.

Defective paint I have a 2003 Spyder... the paint is dissolving off the hood and trunk. First thought it was oxidation and it could be buffed out - WRONG! The paint it gone. It is at the body shop as we speak getting a paint job. The man doing the work said he had one in just last week with the same exact problem. Evidently, Mitsubishi didn't put a thick enough coat of paint on their eclipses.... No other problems though. But just crazy that I am having to have 2003 repainted!! I didn't bother calling Mitsbushi, maybe I should had after seeing "CF"'s comments.

Water leaking in car/paint problems I see I am not alone. But what can be done. I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I am having the same problem with the paint. I have white spots on the roof and the trunk. Worse then that. My car was parked for two days while I was away and my neice cals to tell me. My car was sitting there at 11:30 p.m. and making all sorts of noises and smoke was coming out of the vent. My radio was fried along with who knows how much more damage. There was about a inch of water on my passenger side of the car and condensation was on the inside of the car windows. My insurance company said that the evaperator core for the A.C. was clogged with pine needles and leaves and this caused the leak and guess what I am responsible for the cause they will fix the resulting damage. Right now I have 3,000 worth of damage to the car and I am responsible for 1,200 anybody have any suggestions???????????????????????????

2007 Eclipse GS I was just curious if anyone has the same issues as me. My first concern is when I bought the car only 2 weeks ago it only had 169 miles on it. After signing paper work I had them put a car starter in so it would be covered under the warrenty. After they took it where ever to put it in and then also drove it to fill the gas tank up, I drove it home which is 12 miles from the dealership. When I parked my car at home it only had 179. The miles don't add up, so I wonder who messed with it. Also I have a feed back noise that goes through my speakers when moving the mirrors. The only thing the dealership told me is that there is nothing they can do about either issue. Does anyone else have these same issues.

Paint and more I have a 2000 eclipse and just this year (mid 2006) i had it repainted because it looked like a car with scabes or some other flesh eating virus, i mean it was bad down to the bare metal on the hood with a lot of rust the top was the same and the trunk as well. but i finally got fed up with it said F*** it and got it painted for 2000 dollars, now my car looks was awesome well i got matching rims and new front and rear bumpers. now my car is making this weired ticking or clicking noise from under the hood, and if i let go of the gas it will die, i have to hold the gas while holding the brake to slow down and keep the car on. if anyone knows anything about these engine problems please contact me by email, thanx
