bad eclipse paint
My eclipse is a 2003 Black GT. The clear coat is cracked badly all over, and more and more grey is showing through every time I wash it. I have a friend with the same car and his has more grey showing now than black

2002 Eclipse - Oxidizes Paint
After about 5 years the paint on my Spyder is shot. On the hood and trunk, the paint has oxidized and now the clear coat is shipping off. I took great car of the car and it's still happening.
Also, overnight the dash cracked in 7 places. Yes 7 cracks in 1 night. I have never done anything that would cause damage like that, it just showed up one day.
My brakes also have squeaked since the first time I replaced the pads.

Clicking Noise
My 2002 Eclipse GT starting making this really loud clicking noise and it won't stop - has anyone dealt with this???

Anyone know a good service center north of Seattle around Hwy. 5 somewhere or Port Angeles South? I live in Victoria, B.C., but can hardly recommend Harris Mitsubishi in Nanaimo and they are the only ones on the Island. Had some bad luck with them.

2002 Spyder Blowing Radio Fuse
I cannot figure out what is is. Every time i put a new fuse in it blows it out. Its actually not the radio fuse its the one next to it. When blown i cannot use my power locks or windows or radio when the key is switched to accessory. I am using the correct fuse. even tried using a bigger one. What it still blows. HELP ME!!!!

PAINT Gone BAD VERY BAD
I bought a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse. I thought I would be happy with it. I failed to mention that it was black. I say was because it is now turning WHITE. The interior is aweful, the seats stain if water gets on it. But back to the paint. I took it back to mitsubishi I was told they could not help me. I moved and took it to another mitshubishi dealer they told me that they know the black has a problem but the service manager will not authorize a new paint job. What do I do? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am the original owner of this vehicle. Who do we contact?

my 17 y/o sister died in her 2002 eclipse 6 months ago because of a broken neck .. the car was totally crushed in the front.. The air bags never deployed??? Dont sound right to me

Potential eclipse lover
I live in northern BC (Canada, in case any one didn't know) and have been in love with the eclipse forever. I am about to head to a dealership,and wondered if anyone had any info about the new 2007 eclipses, which is the year I would buy. My girlfriend is also going to get one, so I would like some information if anyone has had some good or bad experiences with a more current year.
More specifically, our winters are pretty rough here, and our roads pay for it. Has anyone had any experience driving their eclipse in the winter with snow and ice? how is it on rough roads?

2 ECM's broken down
hi i'm from mexico and i have a DSM '95 eclipse, it works well, but when it has running about 1 or 1:30 hours it doesn't run well. i have with the car since november, but in all this time that i have with the car it has broken down 2 ECM's (computers) i'm too desesperated and sometimes i'd like to take a hammer and hit the car until it got trash. well please e-mail me if somebody knows what my car have

2001 Eclipse Spyder GT
I bought my 2001 with 9,000 from a local Mitsubishi dealer in Feb of 2002.I bought the car for my 25th birthday so the truth is the car has certainly taken a bit of a beating at times,I've drivin this car to South Beach Miami from Long Island NY a total of 6 times since I bought her twice to Vegas, countless trips to Boston, Hartford, AND NYC ...unfortunatly all my rims have bent I've replaced 3 in 5 years and now the 4th is finally shot, My "Tiptronic" transmission went at 90k on the nose..LOL But didn't leave me stuck, she made it from work, to dealer, from dealer to tranny shop, from tranny shop to ANOTHER tranny shop...slippin and sliding but got me there all the same, it's been the one and only "mechanical" part I've ever in 5 years had to replace don't get me wrong that S*^T set me back $3,200 and was only coverd for 12k miles. But I truly feel the beating she took from back in the days had a lot to do with it. My rotors were an issue from day 1...truly they were, my dealership told me that I was the one warping the brakes because the only way to get them "That warped" was from coming to a hard or quick stop from an excessive speed...um OK, maybe? I went to my moms Firestone and explained that for 3 years I was replacing or turning rotors about every 6 mos and got tired of fighting the dealership for it and just resigned myself to get it done as it's a safty issue as far as I'm concerned. They had a fix!! I upgraded to a different manufacturer it cost about 85.00 EXTRA for both front rotors and I've had them "Turned" ONCE since then that was in 2005. My top had been un stitching around the back window for a long time, there is NOWAY to repair this they claim, because the window is like put in there when it's made or something, currently I'm saving up the $1,500.00 to have that replaced but just found out BOTH motors for the top have shorted out and need to be replaced. Water is everywhere inside, today it's raining which means I'll be driving home with bath towels on the drivers side floor and seat!!! My drivers side headlight was going on and off on it's own, Pep boys replaced the socket, now it's dim and when ya flip on the brights it goes out all together, and as a special rainy day treat while I take a bath and drive my radio cuts in and out even when a CD is put in it does it, the dealer replaced the radio, still does it, replaced some dash wires, still does it (Charging me INSANELY each time I might add). GAVE them the car in the FALL because I drive an old sedan in the winter (I have no ABS or trac control in the convertible) They had the car a grand total of 9 freggin weeks I picked it up and as soon as it got a bit damp outside, SAME PROBLEM radio/cd cuts in and out and to just really make me feel the rath with no lube, they gave it back and the horn isn't working at all, NOT even when the alarm goes off which all of a sudden started happening when ever it feels like it but hey, at least it doesn't make any noise right? Rust is anywhere there's a seam in the metal, and around the rear pass wheel well it looks like the rust has started this really bubbly THICK cancer like stuff. I've ALWAYS been anal about this car, changed my oil every 3500 on the button never once went over, every time I change the oil I spray wheel cleaner on my warm engine let it sit 3-4 mins and rinse, then while still wet I coat the engine and all rubber parts with Armor All..Yeah Yeah I must be crazy (Everyone says I'm retarded for doing this) but my car now has 99,236 miles and I've never replaced anything because it "Went" or broke, I've replaced no hoses, no starters, no nothing my shiny engine has even impressed the dealership..LOL but my lil baby is a wolf in sheeps clothes....Yeah, my car STILL turns heads nope, never left me stuck ANYWHERE, but the little things are really starting to wear on my nerves, I have 3 payments of $496.00 left and was hoping I could take a break from the payments for a while, when I bought the car I said, OK, 5 years of payments, but I'll bet I can drive it another 5 years without any payments...I'm really scared right now that the issues will grow and I'll have no choice but to trade her in for something. And because I'd thought all along these issues were because of me and my treatment of the car I thought I'd get a newer one with less miles and THIS time I'd be extra careful...Not sure how I feel about that now. $26,000.00 bucks and the gear shifter came off in my hand this morning. I wanna take those heart paddles to my car and screem don't let go baby, hold on!! Daddy is here!!! LOL

Paint
I thought it was my lack of effort in terms of waxing. My black 2000 eclipse is losing everything. About a year ago I noticed little areas of fading paint. Now my car looks horrible with two enormous white areas on the roof by the sunroof and on the hood. This is really pathetic.

2003 Eclipse, Fading paint, and crack in dash.
I have a 2003 Mitsubish Eclipse. The black paint has been fading and chipping. It's so bad. Plus I also have the crack in the dash. This appears to be a common problem. I have heard that it was a fault in the clearcoat. They need to fix this problem. Class Action Lawsuit anyone?

Paint!!
I really love my eclipse (2002) and love the body style. I had wanted an eclipse since I turned 16, ten years ago. I am extremely disappointed in what I have found all over the united states. Every black Mitsubishi has paint problems! My best friend first complained about her Galant which is a 2000 and now,in a period of 4 or 5 months, the roof of my car is compeletly grey. Every where I go there is a black Mitsubishi with the paint all tore off. Therefore, I know it is not something I did or Indiana weather/salt on the roads. I plan to do something about this. I am not paying for this and I will do whatever I have to to get this solved. If I obtained signatures of people who have paint problems it would be very easy to get a gigantic list. I plan to fight back. This is ridiculous.

So anyways, I have a '91 eclipse gs dohc and I havent any of the paint or cracking issues but, My car seems to like to rev itself at an idle. I've tried checking the timing and that doesnt seem to be an issue but it really sounds like its reving. I dont know what it could be I have taken it apart and hosed it down with some carb cleaner but, no luck. Also it seems to have a bad positive battery cable which I'm not looking forward to replacing. If anyone has any ideas the might be the result of the reving please E-mail me... Bad Black Paint on Eclipse
Well, now I know that we do not own the only black Eclipse with bad black paint. The care is my daughters a 2000 that we bought used in late 2003. Paint looked fine but the next summer we noticed the roof starting to look white. We had it painted, and now the trunk is even worse the clear coat is gone, and we are down to the paint metal, rusing is just a few sunshines away. Hood is starting also. We are having it painted, but what a disappointment. Fun car to drive, just don't expect it to look good, especially if you bought black. Called a dealer to inquire about the paint problems and was told that paint was under warranty for 84 months. So if I would of brought it in November of 2006 they would of fixed it, so they say. I'm going to see if I can get reimbursed for the paint job 2 years ago.
